Safeguarding Policy

Christ Church URC Tonbridge seeks to provide a happy atmosphere, that is also a safe, nurturing Christian environment. To this end it takes the needs and welfare of all children very seriously and has signed up to the latest URC Safeguarding policy, with employed staff required to hold enhanced DBS certification (criminal record disclosure).

All external users/hirers of the building working with children are required to produce and adhere to their own internal safeguarding policies. Copies of these and the URC safeguarding policy are kept on file by the Centre Manager.

In the first instance all issues surrounding any form of child abuse should be bought to the attention of the minister, Rev Jim Thorneycroft who has undertaken appropriate Safeguarding training and understands the appropriate referral processes to use. Christ Church URC is in the process of empowering a 2nd Safeguarding officer and arranging specialist training.

Also available for further advice surrounding the area of Safeguarding is Nick White, URC Southern Synod Children’s and Youth Development Officer – 01634 817556/07903 279201.
