March 2018 – Friday 9th March – International Womens Day

Don’t Forget!   International Woman’s Day on Thursday 8th March – only we will be celebrating it here on FRIDAY …..

Calling all ladies – Bring & Share Lunch – 12 -2pm

Bring something that represents your country

If you would like please wear something from, or that represents,  your country. Or perhaps you can share a folk or traditional song or other music, or a traditional dance.

Come and have a great fun time meeting new people.

Women supporting women – Help others from your home country to settle in to a new town/country.  Share what you like about Tonbridge. Where are the best doctors/dentists?  Which is your favourite restaurant? Invite people to come along and try your local hobbies or interests. Help people to find their feet and find new friends.

Then – pitch in and help us clear up.

Check out Facebook West Kent International Women’ Day group and see what they get up to the rest of the year!

Contact  or go via the Facebook page so the organisers have some idea of numbers or to find our more details.  See you there!

February 2018 – Prayer around town

As the year began with prayer and praise lead by Pastor Charles in his New Year service, so many continue to pray in hope & expectation – here at Christ Church; on Sundays, at the fortnightly Monday 2.15 prayer group; at the Tuesday River Church 8am at Wetherspoons; at the monthly Tonbridge Prayer Initiative (1st Fri 7pm -midnight here at Christ Church); at the joint TACTEG and TACT Tonbridge All Churches Together meetings.

It doesn’t matter where and when you pray, but just P-U-S-H – pray until something happens. This time last year we were praying for the right person to come and be the minister – and now Angela and her family are here!  Pray &  Keep praying!

January 2018 – Christ Church wishes everyone a Happy New Year

Sunday 31st December 2017

Pastor Charles will be at the church on New Years Eve 9pm until midnight to see in the New Year with prayer and praise.

River Church International will be having a celebration service from 6pm -9pm   Drop in and join in – as you are led or as you are able.

Don’t forget to look on the website or The Messenger magazine to see what each of the three churches in the building are planning for this coming year!  What would you like to see taking place in these buildings?

Tonbridge Festival 1-10th July 2016

This year we are taking part in the Festival by hosting a window display – part of a townwide book trail.

Take a look at our balcony window and see what book it is representing.

As a clue it is not the bible with Adam, an apple and the serpent!

Pop down to our cafe 10-1pm Monday – Saturday  (free drinks after the Sunday service!)

Any ideas how we could get more involved next year?

Tonbridge Carnival – Sunday 19th June 2016

Bands and other activities start up at the Castle at 11.30, but the main parade will take place from our end of the High Street at 12.15.    It will move up the High Street and into the Castle grounds.

Not only is our church as great vantage point, but it is an opportunity to open up our foyer – so volunteers to serve drinks, play music or support other activities would be great.  Speak to Sharon

Don’t forget all this will affect parking in the car park – so turn up early – or walk if possible. Sometimes the exits to the car parks are closed until 12.30 so keep an eye on the noticeboards in the week leading up to the event.

Elders Election Nomination Forms 2016 – out now!

If any church members have not yet received their Elders nomination forms, please check the noticeboard in the church. Should you not be able to find your form – or would like it send via email please contact Sharon

Our process starts in June with prayerful consideration by all members and time to chat with those who they feel God is calling to be ordained as an elder (or become a serving elder again). Existin elders are available during this time to share what the job involves. By early July all nominees will have been visited. July and August is a time to have social activities – to let us get to know the nominees better and for them to consider their nomination.  By September the final list of names for consideration will be known.  The September election is followed by a 2-3 month period shadowing existing elders, during which it is still possible for prospective Elders to withdraw before their ordination 1st week of Advent.  Elders take up their new roles in Dec/Jan.

Ibstock Corey Environmental Trust Grant – helps refurbish community centre.

Those of you who have been in the building recently will have seen the new purple heather carpet tiles in the hallways, stairs and landing, as well as the two main rooms that are let out to community groups.

In addition to this the wooden hall floor has been stripped back, repaired and revarnished and looks amazing.

All this works was made possible by a grant – and we are awaiting the official re-opening – watch this space!

Thanks also to River Church for re-painting the upstairs hall in a subtle cream, to David who painted downstairs rooms 4 & 2 and John who re-painted Room 1.  It all looks great.
